Margaret “Margie” E. Gartner, 93, of Whitehall, died Feb. 7, 2019, at home. She was the wife of the late Jacob M. Gartner for 65 years.
Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Kobli) Szilagyi.
She was a 1943 graduate of Coplay High School.
She was an assembler at the former General Electric, Allentown, for more than 20 years until she retired in 1976.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, Whitehall. She was a member of the Golden Agers.
She was a life member of the Coplay Saengerbund. Earlier in life, she was active in Coplay sports.
She is survived by a daughter, Ava and her husband Dennis McCarthy of Slatington; a son, Bruce and his wife Jane of Wescosville; three grandchildren, Michael Fedor, Michelle and her husband Vincent Massi and Alison and her husband Salvatore Lombardi III; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan, Eva, Salvatore IV, Isabella, Nicholas and Lars; a brother, John and his wife Elsie Selady; a sister-in-law, Shirley Gartner; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Gartner; two sisters, Mary Zavecz and Helen Schmitt; and a brother, Julius Szilagyi.
