Francis C. Dickman

Francis “Frank” C. Dickman, 89, of Coplay and formerly of Summit Hill, died Feb. 21, 2019. He was the husband of Anna R. (Stanko) Dickman.

Born in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late Russell and Veronica (Karnish) Dickman.

He was a Korean War veteran and was in the Army Intelligence Language School division.

He worked at Bethlehem Steel in the beam yard. He then became a postmaster of the Coplay Post Office and later, the Catasauqua Post Office, until his retirement. He was a secretary for the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. He was an English language instructor at the Polish-American Club.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

He was a co-founder of Coplay Crime Watch. He was a director of Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association and an officer with Coplay Sports. He was on the Coplay Borough Planning Commission, the Coplay library board and Coplay Borough Council. He was a member of the Coplay Saengerbund, the Coplay centennial committee, American Legion Post 426 and Commitment to Family & Community. He created a pictorial and text CD on the history of Coplay.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Maryrose and her husband Scott Farquhar of Palmerton; a son, Frank K. and his companion Deb of New Tripoli; and four grandchildren, Gina, Jade, Logan and Aiden.

He was predeceased by an infant son, Russell A.; and two siblings, Jane Beshock and John Dickman.

Services will be private.

Arrangements were made by Brubaker Funeral Home Inc., Coplay.
