Joseph L. Tognoli, 79, of North Catasauqua, died Feb. 18, 2019. He was the husband of Sylvia (Yale) Tognoli for 57 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Margaret (Molchany) Tognoli.
He was in the Army and Army Reserves Oct. 1960-July 1966.
He and his wife owned and operated Julie’s Restaurant, Allentown. He was later an employee at Mack Trucks until his retirement.
He was active for more than 45 years with the Catasauqua Area Lions Club, serving in various capacities on the board. He was a president of the Catasauqua Community Partnership and organized and ran the Catasauqua J4 celebrations with Bill Albert. He was a member of the Mack Ski Club and the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, where he was a former member of the Drum and Bugle Corps.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Karen and her husband Stephen Rossi and Julie and her husband Chip Smisko; and four grandchildren, Brian and his wife Kayla Schaffer, Phillip Schaffer and Jessica and Alex Rossi.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
