Gill 7th at diving

Freedom sophomore Sarah Gill placed seventh out of 17 female competitors at the District XI Diving Championships on Feb. 23 at Emmaus High School.

“She did great,” said Freedom diving coach Lisa Young. “She didn’t have a bad dive the whole day.”

Gill was in or around fifth place for most of the day.

“She was very consistent. Every dive was just great,” Young said.

Gill scored a 384.65, one point away from sixth place and four points away from fifth place.

“That’s how close it was,” said Young.

Parkland’s Lexi Lehman won the meet with a total score of 479.75, Parkland’s Alexa Brinker was second with a score of 453.15, Parkland’s Kate Gottwald placed third with a score of 439.50, and Easton’s Olivia Jacobsen was fourth with 431.85 points.

“Sarah doesn’t have as high a degree of difficulty as the top three, and they were very steady,” Young said.

Other divers for Freedom were Fallon Tatlow, who placed ninth with a score of 335.90 and Cailin Connelly, who placed 15th with a score of 259.35.

Liberty’s Cara Kuykens placed 14th with a score of 274.30.
