Thomas O. Kern, 63, of Catasauqua, died Feb. 8, 2019. He was the husband of Anne-Marie “Annie” (Schwentner) Kern for 40 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William J. and Agnes (Hofelich) Kern.

He graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1973 and Bloomsburg State College in 1977.

He worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 26 years and had been the manager of payroll and employee benefits for the Diocese of Allentown since 2005.

He was a fitness enthusiast and was a member of the Bethlehem Racquetball Club for more than 30 years. He was a longtime member of the Coplay Saengerbund.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amy and her husband Jim Ziesche of Pittsburgh and Samantha and her husband Jon Kline of Tafton; four grandsons, George and Anderson Ziesche and Max and Sid Kline; a brother, William C. of Allentown; a mother-in-law, Judith Schwentner of Bethlehem; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and countless friends.
