Virginia D. McCarter, 91, formerly of Schnecksville, died Feb. 11, 2019, in Colonial Park Care Center, Harrisburg.

She was the wife of the late Robert E. McCarter Sr.

Born Nov. 20, 1927, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Gavin and Elizabeth (Carr) White.

A graduate of Frankford High School, Philadelphia, in her later years became a registered nurse, attending Montgomery County Community College.

She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles.

Being very artistic, she loved to draw and paint.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township.

Her survivors include children, Nancy D. Heit (Michael) of Harrisburg, Robert E. Jr. of Monson, Maine; son-in-law Robert E. Brown Sr. of Schnecksville; brother Gavin White Jr. of Bensalem; grandchildren Aaron and Jeremy Heit, Juliet and Robert Brown, Jr., and David and Kathryn McCarter; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter Janis L. Brown, and a brother David White.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Heidelberg Township, with the Rev. Karen A. Yonney officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10-10:30 a.m. Monday in the church.

Interment will follow the service at Heidelberg Union Cemetery.
