Members of the 4-H Superkids Club recently took a tour of Weis Markets in Schnecksville.
The Superkids Club is for 4-H Cloverbuds ages 5 to 8.
4-H is delivered by Cooperative Extension, a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing.
Kids complete hands-on projects in areas such as health, science, agriculture, and citizenship, in a positive environment, where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.
Kids experience 4 H through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs, local clubs, and 4-H camps.
Weis describes this tour as a behind-the-scenes glimpse exploring the various departments throughout the supermarket, while participating in educational activities that stimulate their senses and curiosity.
After exploring the store, kids enjoyed a tasty treat they helped to create.
The 4-H’ers viewed and participated in many different, interesting activities: making their own pizza to take home, watch cakes and cupcakes being decorated, see a live lobster, taste test pineapple, tour the dairy cooler, and visit the floral department.
At the end of the trip, the hot foods department even gave out pizza, carnations and a goody bag for each of them.
