The featured speaker for the Jan. 3 AARP meeting at St. Timothy’s Church, Allentown, was local poet Shirley Benz Binkley.
She read several of her upbeat and thoroughly enjoyable poems.
Before the meeting there was a social hour where members enjoyed coffee and cake and conversation.
A collection was made of nonperishable food for the Allentown Food Bank.
After the speaker, there was a business meeting conducted by President Jeanne Tilghman.
AARP Chapter 5415 meetings are held noon on the first Thursday of the month at the church.
