Chosen Words
As we say our Pledge of Allegiance,
we say “one nation under God;”
but, lately, it seems we no longer are,
“one nation under God.”
Our country has lost its direction;
People no longer care.
There’s angst, disagreement, and discord,
And hatred everywhere!
No one agrees with each other;
You are cursed if you think on your own;
If you don’t think like the other guy,
You are labeled and left all alone.
There are two sides to every story.
Each has a tale to tell;
But, if your story differs from the other side,
You are scorned, and cast into hell.
How did we get so disgraceful?
Where did love for our country go?
Why can’t we just come together
And help our nation to grow?
“One nation under God” are beautiful words;
That’s how this nation should be;
Why don’t we start a new program,
And set this nation free!
Abolish all anger and hatred.
Love our country and flag;
Respect every person you meet on the street
And earn the right to brag.
Brag of the freedoms we once enjoyed.
Brag of the love we once employed.
Abolish all reasons for running to hide!
Bring back the joy of American pride!
One Nation under God!
What a beautiful statement, indeed;
Let’s get this program started,
Let’s forget about hatred and greed.
Let’s honor those who have fallen,
While protecting us from afar;
And honor our first responders,
Who respond from wherever they are.
Let’s start loving one another again.
Go out and make a lot of new friends;
Show love and respect to all that you greet,
And extend a hand to a stranger you meet.
Let’s get back the freedoms we once had,
Let’s turn this nation to happy from sad;
Let’s cherish the ground on which we trod
And return to …
One nation under God
