William A. Tyrka, 82, of Macungie, died Jan. 10, 2019, at home.
He and his wife Carol A. (Bender) Tyrka were married 25 years last June.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late William and Anna (Faber) Tyrka.
He was a self-employed roofing contractor in the Lehigh Valley for many years.
Before that, he was in roofing sales.
A member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, he was the custodian for the last five years before his illness.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Karen Axt and Susan Klingman, both of Northampton, and Maryanne Majercak and husband Michael of Whitehall; sons Kurt Axt and wife, Kathy, of Roanoke, Va., Steven Axt and wife, Kelly, of Acworth, Ga., Michael Axt and wife, Sandra, of New Tripoli, and William Tyrka Jr. of Leesport; stepdaughters Carla Moyer and husband, Patrick, of Concord, N.C., Cheryl Rishcoff and husband, Michael, of Allentown; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
