Girls top Eastburg S

Liberty’s girls’ swim team won its meet against East Stroudsburg South, 101-42, last Thursday at Liberty.

“I’m really proud of all the girls this year,” said Richardson, who is a captain along with Greta Stuckey. “We graduated a lot of seniors so we’re lacking a little bit of diversity, but we’re 5-2 and honestly, we’ve been doing amazing at practices and meets. It means a lot they value Greta’s and my opinion, and we work really well together. It’s an honor to be a leader in and out of the pool.”

Julia Pinter, Richardson, Talia Lehr, and Stuckey opened the meet with a 2:03.03 victory in the 200 medley relay.

Maddy Drager won the 200 free with a time of 2:10.95

Samantha Taylor took first place in the 200 IM in 2:16.01, Stuckey won the 50 free in 26.40 and the 100 free in 58.73, Kay Wetmore placed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.02, and Pinter won the 500 free in 5:59.45.

“I’m pretty happy with my 100 time. It’s the best it’s been,” said Stuckey. “I want to break 26 [in the 50]. It’s my goal.”

Richardson, Emma Reilly, Monica Bruno, and Abby Mack came in first in the 200 free relay in 1:51.44.

Lehr had the fastest time in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.75, and Wetmore, Mack, Drager, and Taylor had the fastest time in the 400 free relay in 4:01.04.

The Hurricanes will travel to Easton this Tuesday, past Press deadlines.

“We had some pretty close relays and finishes with Parkland and Emmaus, and Easton has some good swimmers. We’ll have decent competition, definitely,” said Stuckey.

After Tuesday, Liberty’s next meet is scheduled for this Thursday at home against Dieruff.
