LHS swimmers sweep Central

Liberty’s swim team traveled to Allentown Central Catholic last Thursday when the Hurricane boys defeated the Vikings, 154-118, and the Hurricane girls defeated the Vikettes, 176-107.

The Hurricanes had strong starts in the 200 medley relays, placing first on a combination of Samantha Taylor, Natalie Richardson, Kay Wetmore, and Greta Stuckey in 1:58.89, and Jake Evert, Dylan Zukawski, Jonathan Drago, and Sam Capwell in 1:43.95.

Abby Mack won the 200 free in 2:03.06, and Patrick Gilhool won the same event in 1:59.82.

Wetmore won the 200 IM in 2:22.83, and Addison Collins won the same event in 2:11.64.

Richardson and Drago took first place in the 50 free with times of 26.85 and 23.27, respectively, and Wetmore and Gilhool took first in the 100 butterfly with times of 1:03.29 and 58.68, respectively.

In the 100 free, the Hurricanes continued their first place finishes with Mack’s time of 56.58 and Capwell’s time of 52.82.

The 500 free was won by Daniel Lader in 5:57.18.

Taylor, Mack, Stuckey, and Talia Lehr led the 200 free relay with a winning time of 1:46.54, and Collins, Evert, Drago, and Zukawski led the boys relay, winning in 1:32.65.

Lehr was first in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.32, and Collins was first in the same event in 1:02.21.

Richardson had the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.29, and Sean McGuire had the fastest time for the boys with a 1:08.22.

In the 400 relay, Taylor, Mack, Richardson, and Stuckey had the best time in 3:58.16, and Collins, Ben Service, Evert, and Drago had the best time for the boys in 3:30.91.

The Hurricane girls had one-two-three finishes in five events: the 200 free, 100 fly, 100 free, 100 back, and 100 breast.

This week, Liberty will host East Stroudsburg South on Thursday.
