In this years municipal races, more candidates are stepping forward.
NorCo District Attorney: Bethlehem Attorney Nuria DiLuzio, announced her candidacy recently. She has served as both a full-time and part-time public defender, and is currently Chief Public Defender. She has maintained a private practice since 2001, focusing on criminal defense and family law. She is married to Bethlehem Police Chief Mark DiLuzio. She is a Democrat.
The only other candidate at this stage is Republican Tom Carroll.
Lehigh County District Attorney: Jim Martin, the longest-serving district attorney in Lehigh County, is seeking an unprecedented sixth term. He has been Lehigh County’s top prosecutor since 1988. He spearheaded technological advances in crime detection during his time as district attorney. The most notable of these is a Regional Crime Center. It collects data from incident reports throughout both counties, enabling police officers to detect trends and solve crime. Martin is a Republican.
Northampton County Council: Carpenter Kevin Lott has confirmed he will file for the district council seat covering Bethlehem, Hellertown, Freemansburg and Hanover Township. He was appointed to the seat late last year when Ken Kraft resigned to work at the jail. He is a Democrat.
Bethlehem City Council: Basilio Bonilla, a former Bethlehem school director, has announced plans to run. He is a Democrat.
