Wrestlers host Parkland Duals

The Trojans went 4-1 at the Parkland Duals Saturday.

Parkland beat Central High (47-28) in the first round then took down Souderton (40-36) in the second round and beat Delaware Valley (31-28) in the third round.

Parkland lost to Boyertown, 51-19, in the fourth round before bouncing back with a 63-15 win over Mariana Bracetti Academy in the final round of the tournament.

In the win over Central, Garrett Fitzgeral (220), Cory Border (285), Nathan Kresge (106), Gabriel Montanez (120) and Bryan Diaz (132) won by fall. Lucas Kern (126) and Kale Cummings (152) picked up wins by technical fall, while teammate Joe Dolak (145) won by major decision and Mason Lansederfer pulled out a 7-6 decision win.

Against Souderton, Fitzgerald (220), Border (285), Kresge (106) and Kern (126) got wins by fall, while Gio Catania (182) won by major decision and Jacob Ortman (170) and Montanez (120) got wins by decision. Diaz (132) won by forfeit.

In Parkland’s win over Delaware Valley, Zayd Afif (195) and Border (285) got the only Parkland pins in the close match. Diaz (132) won by major decision, while five teammates got decision wins, including Catania (182), Fitzgerald (220), Montanez (120), Kummings (152) and Ortman, whose 10-5 win in the final bout sealed the team victory.

The Trojans won just four bouts in their loss to Boyertown. Border (285) and Kummings (145) both won by fall, while Montanez (120) and Diaz (138) picked up wins by decision.

Parkland won five matches by fall in it’s victory over Mariana Bracetti Academy. Border (285), Evin Harris (106), Kresge (113), Diaz (132) and Dolak (138) all pinned their opponents, while teammates Jim Ernst (170) won by decision. Fitzgerald (220), Montanez (120), Kern (126), Kummings (152) and Afif (195) picked up forfeit wins in the match.
