Daddy Daughter Dance

Among the many wonderful programs at the Bethlehem Township Community Center -- bingo and other activities for senior citizens, yoga, painting classes for people of different ages, to name a few -- the annual Daddy Daughter Dance is quite popular.

This year forty seven daddy/daughter couples registered to dance the night away on December 1st. Before the dance began, fathers and daughters lined up to have a souvenir picture taken. Then it was on to the dance floor where the dads and their dates, ages three to eight, improvised a variety of dance steps. Soon, however, the little ladies discovered that dancing with each other was more fun than dancing with their fathers. At that point they broke away and danced in groups of three or four or formed a conga line that wove its way around the dance floor. While the girls did their thing, their dads watched from the sidelines, checked their phones, or chatted with each other.

One of the highlights of the evening was the Limbo, which involved all comers, first the girls and then their dads. Later the little ladies rejoined their dads for the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance. After two hours of dancing and socializing, the young partiers were ready to call it a night.

Couples pose for a photo to serve as a memento of the evening.
