Daniel Steven Coval, 92, of Hokendauqua, died Dec. 12, 2018, at Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall. He was the husband of Ruth L. (Schenkenberger) Coval for 61 years.
Born in Hokendauqua, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Lukachovsky) Coval.
He was a 1944 graduate of Whitehall High School. He was a 1963 graduate of Kutztown University and later attended Temple University, where he earned a master’s degree.
He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a machinist for 11 years in the Bethlehem Steel’s No. 2 machine shop. He taught sixth grade in the Allentown School District for 25 years from which he retired in 1988.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Northampton.
He was a life member of Jones-Quigg American Legion Post 739, Hokendauqua, and Hokendauqua Fire Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daniel S. Jr. and his wife Dot of King of Prussia and Mark and his wife Monique of Philadelphia; a brother, Eugene and his wife Janice of Whitehall; and three grandchildren, Kristen, Katelyn and Jacqueline.
