Police arrested a young man for allegedly bringing an unloaded firearm with him to school Jan. 3.

According to police, an 11th Avenue resident reported the dissappearance of a pistol around 2 p.m. and officers quickly established the weapon may be in the possession of Brandon Neblett, 18, a resident of that address.

Liberty HS resource officers were immediately informed, and they located Neblett and recovered the 9 mm Ruger.

Police and school officials are investigating, but assure the public no one was harmed and no threats were made.

Neblett is charged with carrying a firearm on school property.
