Norman J. Kern, 62, of Northampton, died Dec. 14, 2018, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Souilliard) Kern for 42 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Charles G. Sr. and Evelyn (Pettersen) Kern.

He was a custodian for 14 years in the Northampton Area School District until he retired in 2013. Before that, he was a mechanic for eight years at Harhart’s Service Station, Northampton. He also worked as a parts manager at both Bennett Chevy/Toyota and Key Pontiac, Bethlehem, for 13 years.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville.

He was a longtime member of Mopar Madness of the Lehigh Valley and was a car restorer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Douglas J. and his wife Mindy of Pottstown, Glenn S. and his wife Melissa of Ephrata and Joel N. of North Bay, Ontario; two brothers, Charles G. Jr. and his wife Elaine Kern of Northampton and Ronald A. and his wife Cristine Kern of Marlborough, Conn.; and six grandchildren, Jakob, Bailey, Ayden, Teagan, Chloe and Lucas.
