Josephine E. Schwartz

Josephine “Betty” E. (Reeser) Schwartz, 97, of North Whitehall Township, died Dec. 17, 2018. She was the wife of the late Kenneth P. Schwartz.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Matilda A.E. (Riedy) Reeser.

She was a seamstress for the former Schneider Manufacturing for 22 years before retiring in 1984.

She was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church, Allentown, where she was a member of the choir, the Clicking Needles group, Sunday school teacher and a former president of United Methodist Women.

She was a member of the Schneider Girls and the Franklin Senior Citizens group.

She is survived by a son, Paul K. and his wife Judy of Center Valley; a daughter, Beth A. and her husband Lee Fahringer of Maricopa, Ariz.; a brother, Joseph G. and his wife Sally Reeser of Bethlehem; six grandchildren, Lenore A. and her husband David Tretter with whom Betty resided, Jeff and his wife Michelle Schwartz, Greg Schwartz, Tami and her husband Matthew Kondravy, Traci and her husband Bradley Williams and Tricia and her husband Scott Fry; six great-grandchildren, David Jr. and his wife Kaitlynn Tretter, Kyle Tretter, Zachary and Lee Kondravy, David Murphy Jr. and Lilly Fry; three stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Ott, Aldine Miller and Marion Miller.

There will be a calling hour 1-2 p.m., followed by a service 2 p.m., Dec. 30 at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, Allentown.

Contributions may be made to St. Luke’s VNA Hospice, 240 Union Station Plaza, Bethlehem, 18015; or to the church, 1401 Linden St., Allentown, 18102.
