John Paul LeCompte Sr., 69, of South Whitehall, died Dec. 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

The beloved husband of Kathleen (Heltzel) LeCompte, the couple was married more than 43 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Kline) LeCompte.

A 1967 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School and a 1972 graduate of Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, he worked in sales for more than 40 years in the packaging, janitorial and restaurant supply industry for various companies.

After he retired, he worked part time representing McCormick and Co. Inc. at Wegmans, Nazareth, where he was affectionately referred to as “the spice man.”

He had a devoted group of childhood friends who met monthly at Zotos Diner, Lansdale, and gathered yearly in Ocean City, N.J., for March Madness.

There is nothing he cherished more than his family, especially spending time together at the Jersey Shore in Avalon.

His gentle kindness and quick wit will be missed by all.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons John P. Jr. (Krista), and Michael A.; brother Vincent (Ann); sister Catherine Flite (Joe); brother-in-law David Heltzel (Mary); sister-in-law Maureen Hartman (Al); many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and lifelong friend and mentor Frank DeAgostine (Barbara), of Scottsdale Ariz.
