Freedom’s boys’ swim team lost a close meet to Northampton, 91-84, last Thursday at Freedom after winning its first meet of the season against Dieruff last Tuesday.
In the Patriots’ meet against the Konkrete Kids, the final score came down to the 400 free relay, but the Pates came in second.
Freedom’s boys opened the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay swum by Luke McClure, Sahil, Shah, Al Bell, and Danny Connell in 1:52.16.
Bell won the first individual event, the 200 free, in 1:48.38. Later in the meet, Bell won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.48.
“My times were all right, but I’m just working through the season,” said Bell. “I definitely want to medal at states, but this year, I’m going to switch up and focus on the fly.”
In the 200 IM, Connell placed second in 2:16.32, and Dominic Fresoli placed third in 2:25.41.
Dylan Stahl took second place in the 50 free in 25.93, and Jack Rosen was third in 26.51.
Fresoli placed second in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.50, and McClure came in third in 1:05.71.
Rosen was second in the 100 free in 1:00.24, and Connell placed second in the 500 free in 5:25.33. Jared Franges placed third, also in the 500 free, in 5:57.03.
Stahl, Fresoli, Rosen, and Shawn Higgins brought the Patriots back with a win in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.39.
McClure placed third in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.71.
In the 400 free relay, Connell, Stahl, Rosen, and Bell took second place in 3:40.88.
“The meet came down to that,” said Bell. “We definitely tried our best, and we definitely will progress.”
