Henry H. Shoemaker
Henry H. Shoemaker, 79, of North Whitehall Township, died Dec. 17, 2018, at home.
He and his wife Irene A. (Oswald) Shoemaker were married 59 years on June 13.
Born Dec. 13, 1939, in Lehigh Township, he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Eleanor L. (Costenbader-Sterner) Shoemaker.
An insurance agent, he owned and operated the Henry H. Shoemaker Insurance Agency, North Whitehall Township, from 1982-2005.
Before that, he was and underwriting manager at the former Stuyvesant Insurance Co., Allentown, for 25 years.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township, and a former member of St. Paul’s UCC, Indianland, formerly serving as treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent; and Union UCC, Neffs, serving as a deacon.
Active in the life of his community, he was a past president of the Upper Lehigh Lions Club, Schnecksville, with a 50-year lifetime perfect attendance in the club.
He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow for his dedicated humanitarian service from the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
He was currently serving on the board of directors of NOVA EMS and vice president of and volunteer with the NOVA Auxiliary.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter Cynthia L. Kish (David) of Coplay; sisters Carol A. Bloss of Schnecksville, Linda K. Ehret (Dale) of Whitehall; three nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Dec. 21 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Karen A. Yonney officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
