George F. Sasara

George F. Sasara, 92, of Orefield, died Dec. 16, 2018.

The loving husband of Mary C. (Hutnyan) Sasara, the couple was married 67 years in July.

Born May 23, 1926, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Plescatch) Czaczara.

He was a graduate of the former South Whitehall High School.

A veteran of WWII, having honorably served in the Army Air Corps., he attained the rank of staff sergeant.

He was a member of the 9th Flight Squadron, 49th group, stationed in Chitose, Japan.

An airplane line chief, he supervised the repairs of the P51 fighter aircraft and the B29 bombers.

He was employed by the former ESB/Exide Battery Co., Allentown, until his retirement in 1991.

A recreational pilot and former member of the Sky 10 flight club at Queen City Airport, he was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, and the United Flying Octogenarians.

He was also a member of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Debra A. Sampson (Robert), Jeffrey G. Sasara (Jackie); grandchildren Kate Dalman (John), Rebecca Sampson, Amy and Adam Sasara; great-grandchildren Cora, Hunter and Violet Grace; and sister Marie Dean.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Makovsky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Dec. 21 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

Visitation at the church will be 9:30-10:50 a.m.

Interment with military honors will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville.
