Five harriers compete

Five Liberty High School distance runners competed in the 5K Northeast Regional Foot Locker Cross Country Championships on Nov. 24 at VanCortlandt Park in Bronx, NY.

Hurricane senior Darlyn Fermin placed 11th in the High School Senior Boys’ Race with a time of 17:35.90.

In the High School Junior Girls’ Race, Belle Weikert placed 15th with a time of 21:12.

Cole Frank came in 9th with a time of 17:17.10 in the High School Sophomore Boys’ Race, and in the High School Sophomore Girls’ Race, Emily Jobes was 17th with a time of 21:00.80.

Philip Bezas competed in the High School Freshman Boys’ Race where he placed 54th with a time of 18:54.90.

Frank received a gold medal, and Fermin, Weikert, and Jobes received silver medals.

In addition to Pennsylvania, runners came from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.
