Franklin W. Reimert
Franklin W. Reimert, 91, of Emmaus, died Nov. 17, 2018, at Mosser Nursing Home. He was the husband of Nancy (Wieand) Reimert for the past 37 years. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Irvin and Edna Reimert.
He was a graduate of Emmaus High School, Class of 1945, where he played football and ran track and served as class treasurer and loyally supported Emmaus High athletics over the years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving at West Point from 1945 to 1946.
For 40 years, he was a popular and well-known letter carrier in Emmaus. Following his retirement he worked for Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes for 28 years.
A long-time member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emmaus, he served many years as vice-president of Congregational Council and was involved with countless church ministries. In 2016, St. John’s celebrated his 75th anniversary of singing with the choir. His love of music was evident in his singing with Summer Harmony Mens Chorus for many years. He enjoyed bringing smiles to children and adults alike in his role as Santa Claus for the Borough of Emmaus and a number of local organizations.
He was a stamp collector and an avid golfer, maintaining meticulous records of where, when and how he played and he was proud of his Pennsylvania German heritage.
After his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively in the U.S. and around the world.
He is survived by his wife; brothers-in-law, Robert B. Wieand (Dolly), Albert B. Wieand (Katrina), and sisters-in-law, Judy Wieand and LaMae Charron; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine (Schaffer) Reimert.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 21 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. A viewing will be held 10 to 10:45 a.m. Nov. 21 in the church. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
