Richard A. Bowman

Richard A. Bowman, 76, of Pen Argyl, died tragically in a vehicle accident on Route 248 in Walnutport, on the morning of Nov. 2, 2018.

He and his wife Susan A. (Jarrett) Bowman celebrated 46 years of marriage in July.

Born April 8 1942, in Sandusky, Ohio, he was a son of the late Arlington and Patricia (O’Reilly) Bowman.

A 1960 graduate of Parkland High School, he later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Stroudsburg State College.

He was a beloved mathematics teacher, football coach and a baseball coach, briefly working at Northwestern High School, and later working in the same capacity at Pen Argyl High School, until his retirement in 2002.

He and his wife were incorporators of Forgotten Felines and Fidos Inc., originally of Allentown, now of Germansville.

He worked endlessly to care for the countless animals that crossed his path.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother John (Linda) Bowman of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two nephews and two nieces and many, many friends.

He was predeceased by his brother Thomas.

His memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli.

Calling hour begins at noon.

The Rev. Gary Whittington will officiate.
