STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is math. Throughout my life, math has come fairly natural to me. I welcome the challenge of tougher math courses because they further my knowledge in the expansive subject. Continuing to learn and enroll in new curriculum pushes me to grow in my understanding and increases my love of the subject.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: Yes, I received the Dwight D. Eisenhower award for Leadership. I was also nominated for the Philanthropic Educational Organization Star Scholarship. I qualified for the state conference in Future Business Leaders of America. As far as soccer recognitions, I received Second Team All-League honors for soccer for one year and I received First Team All-League honors for two years. I was Lehigh Valley Live Soccer player of the week two times and was recently voted as Coordinated Health Athlete of the Week. I hold three records for Salisbury girls soccer for all-time goals, assists and points. On the track team, I placed in both leagues and districts in my freshman and sophomore years in the 400m dash. I also placed third in long jump my sophomore year. I have committed to Bucknell University to continue my soccer and academic careers.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am a member of student government, student advisory, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, Best Buddies, girls soccer and track and field.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My next goal after high school is to attend Bucknell University where I will play soccer and study civil engineering. I want to continue to improve in both soccer and in my education.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge thus far has been overcoming injury, especially when I broke my wrist my sophomore year playing soccer. My injury cost me half of my sophomore season and I did not enjoy sitting on the sidelines. Soccer is a big part of who I am and not being able to contribute to the team for those 11 games was physically and mentally tough. When I came back from that injury, I realized I was stronger and a better person because of it.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered for being a dedicated student, athlete and friend. I want to be remembered as a peer who was always willing to help and was kind to others. I hope that I was able to bring a smile to the faces of others.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My family includes my dad, Glenn, my mom, Jessica, my brother, Mason and my dog, Snickers.
Q; Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I look up to my older brother Mason who constantly pushed me to be the best version of myself in both athletics and academics. He has always been a role model for me as his successes have caused me to strive to succeed.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: I would advise to my peers to push for what you want and never give up. Although some things may not come easy, hard work and determination will surely get you closer to your goal. Challenge yourself and continue to try new things because you never know what will come from it.
