Dr. William L. Bollman III
Dr. William L. Bollman III (aka “Papa” or “Doc”), 83, of Sunset Beach, N.C., formerly of Macungie, died Oct. 17, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Virginia (Ginny) Lee (Hatton) Bollman. They were married for 59 years. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William and Kathryne (Patrick) Bollman.
He graduated from Allentown High School in 1952, Albright College in 1956 and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1960 and interned at the former Allentown Osteopathic Hospital.
In 1961, he set up practice at his home in Macungie. As a family doctor he did it all, including delivering babies, removing tonsils, filing prescriptions and making house calls. In 1973 after practicing out of his home for 12 years, he founded Macungie Medical Group with two partners. After 38 years of service, he retired from his role as “Macungie’s Doctor.”
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was devoted to his wife for 60 years. She was his rock and was able to care for him to the end. He was an avid golfer, sportsman and passionate about his ever-changing hobbies, which included restoring vintage Mustangs, photography, cooking and meticulously caring for his gardens and yard.
He is survived by his wife; children: Andrew (Kelly), of Marlborough, Mass., Elizabeth Seislove (Scott), of Nashville, Tenn. and Peter (Heather), of Northeast, Md.; grandchildren: Megan, Kaitlyn, Allie, Patricia, Ryan, Kylie and Madelyn; sister, Mary Lou Raymond, of Cleveland, Ohio. He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother Margaret and daughter Patricia (Patty) Margaret.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
