Madeline M. Seidel, 95, of New Tripoli, died Oct. 5, 2018, in Kutztown Manor, Kutztown.

She was the wife of the late John C. Seidel, who died in 1998.

Born in Alburtis, she was a daughter of the late Myron and Pearl (Bogert) Merkel.

A dog breeder in New Tripoli for many years, she mainly bred Chihuahua dogs, until retiring in 2005.

She was a member of Jacob’s Church, Jacksonville, Lynn Township, and was a lifetime member of the Lynnport Fire Company.

She also volunteered for the former Northwestern Ambulance Corps for many years.

Her survivors include her daughter Joan A., wife of Richard A. Oswald, of New Tripoli; brothers Abner Merkel of Bethlehem, Hans and Arthur Merkel, both of Slatington; sister Mary Ann Merkel of Allentown; grandchildren Daniel Rabert and Beverly, wife of Mitch Hosler; great-grandchildren Andrew and Ashley Rabert; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by siblings Henry and Jake Merkel, and Miriam Follweiler.
