LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

FHS, LHS advance

EPC girls’ and boys’ soccer quarterfinals were played last Tuesday when Liberty’s boys and Freedom’s boys advanced to semifinals and Liberty’s girls did not.

The Hurricane boys took on Easton for the third time this season and won on Tuesday night, 1-0.

“We tied them before and we beat them so we were pretty confident we would get the job done,” said Hurricane defender David Reagan. “We knew we were the better team and could put them away.”

The game remained scoreless at halftime, so the Hurricanes talked about how to proceed.

“They like to play top so definitely the headers, and keeping our shape, keeping it compact and tight. Keep up the intensity,” Reagan said.

In the second half, Spencer Koski scored the winning goal off a corner kick.

“Ricardo [Carcamo] is the one who’s been taking all the corners for us. In the first half he put in a really good one and I should have scored it, but I lost it in the light,” Koski said. “So second half, he put in the exact same ball, and I knew I had to put it away. It couldn’t have been laid up any more perfect for me. It really feels nice taking a win over them.”

Also on Tuesday night, Freedom’s boys defeated Pocono Mountain East, 4-1.

Liberty’s girls lost to Whitehall, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
