The Emmaus girls cross country team capped an undefeated regular season with a 5-0 showing at last week’s final regular season meet.
The host Hornets edged Parkland 27-28 at the meet to hand the Trojans their only loss of the season. Emmaus also beat Allen (15-50), Dieruff (15-50), Central Catholic (15-50) and Whitehall (19-42) at the meet to finish this season at 17-0.
Parkland’s Madison Zaun won the girls race in 19:25, but Emmaus runners grabbed the next three spots as Keerstin Augustin (20:13), Clara Kennedy (20:35) and Belle Lees (20:36) finished second, third and fourth, respectively, to lead the Hornets. Abby Heilenman came in 10th and Amanda Lavana rounded out Emmaus’ top five with a 12th-place finish.
In the boys races, Parkland took the first five places to sweep the meet and finish its season 17-0.
The Emmaus boys team went 4-1 at the meet to finish the 2018 regular season at 14-3, tied for third place in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
Jacob Brown was the Hornets’ top boys finisher in seventh place. Teammates Paul Petre (11th), Mark Magee (12th), Keshav Shankar (13th) and Mason Brown (15th) were part of a large Emmaus pack that helped the team outscore all opponents except Parkland.
The Emmaus boys team beat Allen (15-50), Dieruff (15-50), Central Catholic (24-37) and Whitehall (15-50), but fell to Parkland 15-48.
