As we approach the Nov. 6 general election, the Bethlehem Press, in the interest of fairness, will halt the publication of columns by local government officials and letters to the editor submitted by or about those running for office. We will, of course, continue to cover the local races, in news stories generated by our own reporters. Letters to the editor, written either by a candidate or members of the community in support of a candidate, must be received no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 19.
