As to Bethlehem, Chief of Police Mark A. DiLuzio announced Oct. 2 that his department and Bethlehem Health Department Director Kristin Wenrich have signed a contract with another nonprofit, No Nonsense Neutering (NNN), to immediately start trapping and processing feral cats in Bethlehem. After processing the cats will be released.

“It is a public safety and public health issue,” said DiLuzio. “NNN will start trapping this weekend.”

No Nonsense Neutering will spay or neuter (females are spayed; males are neutered) each feral cat and provide rabies and distemper vaccinations. They will give each cat a “green tattoo” next for the surgical incision. Traps and trappers will be provided by No Nonsense Neutering.

The cost will be $35 per cat, considerably less than the $175 veterinarians charge for domestic cats, according to DiLuzio.
