Margaret E. (Johnson) Bruns, 84, of Macungie, formerly of Phillipsburg, N.J., died Sept. 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of John T. Bruns for 63 years. Born in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of Russell (“Duke”) and Elsie (Ignatz) Johnson.

She graduated from St. Philip & St. James High School, Class of 1951 and was employed by the Journal of Commerce.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.

In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed watching sporting events and playing cards, Scrabble and Words with Friends.

She is survived by her husband; sisters, Joan Shafer (Garry), of Stroudsburg, and Kathryn Lennon (Francis), of Easton; children; son, Thomas, of Phillipsburg, daughter, Kathleen and her husband David Bonette, of Voorhees, N.J., daughter, Karen, of Macungie, son, Kevin and his wife Monika, of Wescosville, daughter, Cynthia and her husband Patrick Rush, of Macungie; grandchildren, Scott, Julie and Bradley Bonette, Lauren and Madison and Jack and Katie Rush; nephew, Christopher Johnson and a cousin Maryann Ignatz. She was predeceased by a brother, Russell.

Funeral services will be held beginning at the funeral home 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church, 430 S. Main St., Phillipsburg, N.J. Arrangements were made by the Finegan Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, N.J.
