Walter T. Jones Jr.

Walter “Tom” T. Jones Jr., 76, of Catasauqua, died Sept. 18, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Gloria (Faust) Jones for 56 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Walter Sr. and Esther (Gerhard) Jones.

He was a Catasauqua High School graduate.

He was an U.S. Navy veteran and was an aviation boatswain’s mate during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He is a plank owner of the USS Enterprise CVA(N)65.

He was a 41-year employee of Mack Trucks where, after his retirement, he was an ambassador.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

He was a volunteer firefighter for Catasauqua Fire Department for many years. He was a life member of Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he played an instrumental role in the restoration of the F14 Tomcat.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael and his wife Becky of West Pittston and Jeffrey of Catasauqua; a daughter, Kelly and her husband Eric Nichols of Catasauqua; six grandchildren, Candice, Heather, Jordan, Jalen, Kayla and Landon; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Jane Powell; and a grandson, Jason Jones Nichols.
