With the 2018 high school girls tennis season winding down, Emmaus is even at 7-7 overall and 6-5in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matches.
The Hornets recently dropped matches to Blue Mountain and Nazareth, two teams that are among the top of the three in their respective District 11 Classifications.
Nazareth beat the Hornets 5-2 on Sept. 20. Emmaus’ Alyssa Mugavero and Julia Marcks teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles, while Abirami Chinnakaruppan and Payton McGlory earned their team’s other win at No. 4 doubles.
The Blue Eagles are 9-2 overall entered this week ranked third in District 11 Class 3A.
Against Blue Mountain, which is 12-1 and in third place in District 11’s Class 2A rankings, the Hornets fell 5-1 with Shannon Stewart picking up her team’s only win with a 7-5. 5-7 10-8 win at No. 1 singles.
The Hornets, which were 10th in the district rankings as of Tuesday, have matches against Parkland and Central Catholic remaining on the schedule, along with the EPC Tournament next week.
