Gary L. Steckel, 77, of Macungie, died Sept. 8, 2018, in his residence. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Robert Steckel and Edna (Fenstermacher) Rooney.

He was a retired HVAC technician and an avid gardener with a witty sense of humor.

He is survived by a son, Timothy and his wife Betty, of Allentown; daughter, Jana, of Emmaus; half-brothers, Randall Rooney, Jeffery Rooney and Duane Rooney; half-sisters, Maieve Hartman, Eileen Kupcha, Colleen Nechetsky, Kathleen Wiragh. He was predeceased by a brother, Kerry.
