Frank J. Scheck, 78, of Bethlehem, died peacefully Sept. 2, 1028, after a courageous battle. He was the husband of Judith A. (Warnke) Scheck. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in August. Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Datetski) Scheck.
He graduated from Liberty High School in 1958, where he remained active on the reunion committee.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from West Chester University and a master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University. He was a health and physical education teacher in the Salisbury School District for 38 years, serving the last eight of those as athletic director. While at Salisbury he was instrumental in beginning the wrestling program in 1963 and later initiated Title IX Girl’s Soccer. He was devoted to supporting the student assistance program.
He was the caddy master at Weyhill - Saucon Valley Country Club, and after retiring, worked at the Bethlehem Golf Club.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was a founder of the annual golf outing.
He was an avid runner and enjoyed playing golf with friends at Bethlehem Golf Club, spending time with family vacationing on Long Beach Island, visiting family in Ohio and attending Ohio State games and supporting his grandchildren’s scholastic and extracurricular activities.
He is survived by his wife; brother Donald, of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Kailin, Kendall and Christian; step-grandchildren, Maria and Michael.
Memorials may be made in his name to St. Peter’s Church or the American Cancer Society.
