Lehigh Univ.

Sabrina Mertz of Orefield was awarded the Class of 1904 Scholarship Award in spring 2018 at Lehigh University’s 37th Honors Convocation Ceremony in Bethlehem.

This award is given to an outstanding member of the junior class on the basis of character, scholarship, qualifications indicating promise of future leadership, and extracurricular activities.

Gray Schick of Allentown was awarded the Lehigh University Student Senate Leadership Award during the 2018 spring semester.

This award is given solely on merits of leadership in all aspects of student life whether it is student government, student organizations or athletics.

Nazareth

Marissa Caldarelli of Allentown recently received an undergraduate degree during the Nazareth College’s 91st Commencement Exercises, Rochester, N.Y.

Caldarelli graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in music business.

Mansfield U.

Claire Bachman of Germansville, a May 2018 graduate, was named to the spring president’s list at Mansfield University, Mansfield.

To be named to the president’s list, a student must attend the university full-time and attain at least a 4.0 quality point average for the semester.

Bachman, a graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, is the daughter of Steve and Justine Bachman of Germansville.

Gettysburg

Zachary Bartman of Allentown recently graduated from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg.

Bartman received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Miami Univ.

Mason Moser of Kutztown was among more than 1,000 students who received degrees during the recent commencement exercises in Millett Hall at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Moser graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English and creative writing.

Vermont Univ.

Madeline Short of Kempton, recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies during commencement ceremonies at the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt.

Berea College

Willie Gosnell of Allentown, graduated recently with a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree during commencement at Berea College, Berea, Ky.

Wilkes Univ.

Abigail Sanders of Kempton, was one of more than 60 graduating seniors recognized for their academic achievement at the annual academic awards ceremony at Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre.

Sanders received the outstanding achievement in integrative media and art presented by the Integrative Media, Art and Design department and Dr. Eric Ruggiero.

A 2014 Parkland High School graduate is one of more than 1,000 sailors who recently returned to Naval Station Mayport after a six-month deployment to the Middle East and Mediterranean areas of operation.

Ensign Jacob Kappes is a Navy officer aboard the New York, an amphibious transport dock ship, which takes Marines to the locations they need to support U.S. interests around the world.
