Children attending Parkland Community Library’s “Libraries Rock” programs at Parkland elementary schools this summer, including Jaindl Elementary, learned the importance of libraries and reading.

Open to children from kindergarten to fifth grade, this fun, entertaining and educational interactive program was led by Jaclyn Hoimes, director of youth services with the library.

It was “Shark Day” at Jaindl Elementary School as Hoimes read “The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark” to the children.

They then set about crafting their own sharks using clothes pins.

Some of the carefully crafted creations, however, weren’t quite ready to swim in the deep ocean.
