Clara Louise Sanders
Clara Louise “Claire” Sanders, 82, of Allentown, died peacefully, Aug. 31, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She and her husband Michael A. Sanders were married 57 years.
Born Aug. 5, 1936, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late William R. Sr. and Myrtle M. (Stofflet) Keener.
A 1954 graduate of Allentown High School, and a 1957 graduate of the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, she was an operating room nurse at Allentown General Hospital and head operating room nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center Neuro Institute in New York City.
She also was an office nurse for several physicians in Allentown before retiring from the medical field.
Twenty years ago, she became the office manager of her son Greg’s new company, a pool water hauling business.
During this time, her efforts helped Aqua Duck Water Transport grow into the premier water hauling company it is today.
She and her husband enjoyed antiquing and flower gardening while living within the protective walls of their beloved house, which they affectionately named “Sandholm.”
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a daughter Sherry Lyn Clemens (John) of Honey Brook; son Gregory M. Sanders (Kim) of Kempton; sister Lucille M. Clark (Robert) of Exton; brother William R. Keener Jr. (Linda) of New York and Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the proud grandmother of Abigail and Mallory Sanders, and Zachary and Phoebe Clemens.
Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. Sept. 8 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Santucci officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
