Charles F. Hoppes, 92, of Slatington, died peacefully Aug. 31, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He and his wife Dorothy (Webb) Hoppes were married 71 years.

Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Washington Township, he was the son of the late Leon and Helen (Frantz) Hoppes.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A self-employed carpenter, he built residential homes and did renovations for 45 years before retiring.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington.

His hobbies included golfing, bowling and hunting.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters Susan A. Hoppes of Lewisburg, Barbara R. Hoppes of Cape May, N.J., Karen L. Schleicher (Dale) of Slatington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
