Liberty’s girls’ tennis team recovered from a 3-4 loss to Stroudsburg last Tuesday and defeated Pocono Mountain East, 6-1, last Thursday.
The Hurricanes’ match against Stroudsburg lasted five hours.
At one singles, Paige Simons won her match, 6-3, 7-6, but Angie Ronca lost at two singles, 0-6, 1-6, and Julia Zheng lost at three singles, 6-7, 6-7.
In doubles play, Braden Drake and Margeaux Donchez won their match, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6, at two doubles, and Reagan Gunn and Sophia Carpenter won at three doubles, 6-4, 6-4.
At four doubles, Gabriella Palermo and Shivani Patel lost their match, 4-6, 5-7.
The tie in the team score forced a one doubles match, but Simons and Zheng lost, 6-7, 6-7.
In Liberty’s match against Pocono Mountain East, Simons won in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Ronca lost, 7-5, 6-7, (4-7) 8-10, but Zheng won, 6-3, 6-1.
At one doubles, Emily Masters and Aemen Ali won their match, 8-6, and Drake and Donchez won their match at two doubles, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
At three doubles, Gunn and Carpenter won, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), and Palermo and Patel won at four doubles, 6-3, 6-2.
Liberty is currently 3-2, having also defeated Whitehall and Pottsville and losing to Nazareth.
