BC tennis team off to hot start

Bethlehem Catholic’s tennis team won six straight matches to start its 2018 season, defeating Emmaus, Whitehall, Nazareth, Allentown Central Catholic, and East Stroudsburg North, and Stroudsburg.

The Hawks’ closest matches were 4-3 victories over Stroudsburg on Aug. 30 and Nazareth on Aug. 23.

In Becahi’s match with Stroudsburg, Brenna Magliochetti won at one singles, 6-0, 6-3, but Stroudsburg’s two and three singles players one their matches, defeating Taylor Adams, 6-2, 7-5, and Tori Tennyson, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Becahi’s Kaitlyn Hartman and Caitlin Maloney won at two doubles, 6-2, 6-1, and Patty Superka and Cecile Szollas won at three doubles, 6-3, 6-1, also for Becahi.

At four doubles, Becahi’s Alexa Schoenfield and Addie Pintor lost their match, 4-6, 3-6, but Magliochetti and Adams teamed up at one doubles to win, 6-0, 6-3.

In Becahi’s match with Nazareth, Magliochetti won, 6-2, 6-1, Adams lost, 2-6, 3-6, and Jess Marx, who played in the three singles spot for the Hawks, won her match, 6-3, 6-4.

Hartman and Maloney won in three sets at two doubles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, Szollus and Superka lost at three doubles, 2-6, 2-6, and Schoenfield and Pintor won in three sets at four doubles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

At one doubles, Magliochetti and Adams lost their match, 4-6, 4-6.

The undefeated Hawks’ will take to the road this week, traveling to Pocono Mountain East and East Stroudsburg South.
