Robert J. Schlitzer

Robert J. Schlitzer, 71, of Allentown, died Aug. 26, 2018, in the home of his daughter, Michelle, of Northampton.

Born Sept. 5, 1946, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Theresa M. (Keim) Schlitzer.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the rank of sergeant.

Employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he was a forest and park ranger for many years before retiring.

Before that, he worked for his father who owned the former Schlitzer Milk Hauling, Orefield.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

His survivors include a daughter Michelle L. Black and her husband, Daniel, of Northampton; grandson Andrew Joseph Black; and former wife, Judith A. Schlitzer, of Northampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Aug. 31 in St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

The Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo will be the celebrant.

Family and friends may pay their respects 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:45 a.m. Friday in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.

Interment with military honors will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville.
