Norma A. Schrey

Norma A. Schrey, 97, of Whitehall, formerly of Tilghman Street, Allentown, died peacefully Aug. 24, 2018, at home surrounded by everyone she loved.

She was the wife of Edward J. Schrey Jr. for 39 years at the time of his death in 1984.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Arturo and Mary (Rubertelli) Favotto.

A 1938 graduate of Allentown High School, she was the much-loved hostess at the former Dockside Inn, North Catasauqua, for many years, before retiring in 2006.

Earlier in life, she was a crossing guard and private seamstress, who also created the costumes for Theatre in the Round at Dorney Park, South Whitehall.

She was a 65-year member of her canasta club from high school, and attended an area widows’ group.

She never hesitated to help anyone if they needed her, and she was the best Mom, Gram and Grammy in the world.

Her survivors include daughters Toni M. Fillman and husband, Richard, Judy Schrey Walbert and her husband, Edward “Bud”; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and godchildren.

She was predeceased by her son Edward J. III in 2014, sister Julia Gilbert and brother Rudolph Favotto.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Aug. 30 in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

Entombment will follow in Grandview Mausoleum, Allentown.

Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, Whitehall.
