John F. “Jack” McDonald Jr.

John F. “Jack” McDonald Jr., 89, of Emmaus, died in his home July 28, 2018. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Haviland) McDonald. Born in East Newark, N.J, he was the son of the late John F. Sr. and Sarah (Grady) McDonald.

He was a project manager working on commercial construction projects in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., including the N.J. Meadowlands Race Track and the HBO Building in New York City. He lived in both Kearny and Ocean Grove, N.J., before settling in Emmaus in 2005.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and BMP Local #4. He was the co-founder of the Kearny Little League and was a town councilman in Kearny.

He served as a Eucharistic minister, CYO coach and parish council president of St. Stephen’s R.C. Church. He was a member of the Ocean Grove Citizens Patrol and St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.

He was a two-time recipient of the Emmaus Garden Club award.

He is survived by children, Christopher (Susan), Stephen (Bernadette), John (Ann), Mary Jean (Michael), Genevieve (Brett), Gerard (Jessica) and Patrick; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Wilson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 1 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 415 S. 6th St., Emmaus. A calling hour will be held 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus.
