Anthony J. Serino
Anthony J. Serino, 96, formerly of Duryea, Luzerne County, died July 14, 2018, in Westminster Village, Allentown.
He was the husband of the late Grace A. (Mercadante) Serino.
Born June 1, 1922, in West Pittston, he was the son of the late Fred and Jennie (Fruschante) Serino.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II earning three Bronze Stars, the European-African Middle Eastern Medal, WWII Victory Medal and a Sharp Shooter Badge.
A member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers, he was a union mason for many years in the Pittston area before retiring.
He was a member of Duryea VFW Post 1227 and Duryea American Legion Post 558.
He was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Throughout his life, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He had a kind, compassionate spirit, and a heart of gold, always putting others before himself.
He especially enjoyed being surrounded by family, and always found a way to make those around him smile, with his inimitable warmth and humor.
He will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of being part of his life.
His survivors include a son, Fred A. and his wife, Sandra, of Orefield; daughter Debra D. Williams and her husband, Patrick, of Lititz; brothers Frank of West Pittston, Fred Jr. of Glen Mills; sisters Palma Serino of West Pittston, Charlotte Vetack of Escondido, Calif.; grandchildren Erika, Ashley, Justin, Geoffrey, and Camille; great-grandchildren, Mia Grace, Emilia Ann and Arielle Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tara Marie Serino, and siblings James Serino, Rose Cefalo, Florence Phillips, Eleanor Angeli and Louise Dashnaw.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
