Northampton Assembly of God hosting revival, tent meetings

Most of Northampton Assembly of God’s history includes Pastor Daniel Lundmark, who has led the congregation since December 1968.

The church’s formation can be traced to October 1959 when a church building on Main Street in Northampton was purchased to open a home for missions work of the Assemblies of God in Northampton.

Over the next nine years, various pastors led the congregation until Lundmark’s leadership began. The church formally became a sovereign assembly in 1971.

As the church’s membership grew, space was at a premium, and in 1978, the congregation moved to its larger home at 3449 Cherryville Road. In 2008, the building was renovated, as the sanctuary was expanded and a new lobby was added.

Since Northampton Assembly of God’s earliest days, it has supported missionaries throughout the world. Currently, the congregation helps provide monthly support to 12 missionaries in other nations, in addition to supporting several local organizations that provide assistance.

Besides Northampton Assembly of God’s weekly services, the church periodically hosts revival meetings. One of those meetings was held July 15-20 and featured the Jimmy J. Millikin musical and evangelistic family of Claremore, Okla. The first three days of the special services were held in the church facilities, while the remaining services, which continue 7 p.m. July 19 and 20, take place in a tent at the 26th Street Playground, 26th Street and Cherryville Road. The tent meetings have endured throughout Lundmark’s ministry with his wife, dating back to shortly after their marriage in 1964.
