LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Hanover unbeaten

The Hanover Stingrays summer swim team is undefeated, and how they got there was by a combination of last year’s success and this year’s newcomers.

The Stingrays opened the summer swim season with a 446-96 victory over Palmerton on June 14, followed by a 248-233 victory over Lower Macungie on June 21, and a 408-165 victory over Whitehall on June 25.

One of Hanover’s biggest competitors, Quakertown, fell to the Stingrays, 316-270, on June 28.

“I think after we won Quakertown, it was easier,” said Hanover senior Sabrina Krotzer.

On July 2, the Stingrays defeated Northern Lehigh, 472-68, and on July 5 defeated Macungie, 320-261.

“We had such a strong team last year, and we got a lot of very good new swimmers this year, so I kind of expected us to actually do good,” said Hanover senior Jase Smith.

The Hanover Stingrays will go for a perfect record when they take on Soleco for their last dual meet of the season on Thursday at Soleco.

Championships are scheduled for July 21 at Hanover.
